Under the agreement signed by additional chief secretary Javed Aslam and Microsoft head in Pakistan Kamal Ahmad, the company will extend all-out cooperation for training and development of the local IT industry in Punjab. It will also set up an innovation centre at the Software Technology Park.

In addition to uplift of the education sector, Microsoft would also extend cooperation in improving the efficiency of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) besides providing free software to 454 IT academies running under its control, he said.

Medicine shortage
Absolutely disgusting. A mafia playing with people’s lives. I know from personal experience that many life saving drugs are not available in Lahore nowadays. Thyroxin which is used by many has disappeared and is only available in the black at highly inflated rates. Majority of drugs circulating in Pakistan are spurious and fake. Now, even the life saving drugs are being artificially made unavailable, just for the sake of money. Many will lose their lives, but eventually these black marketers and fake drugs mafia will also die and then they will stand in front of GOD and have to account for their deeds and ill gotten wealth.

Russia unveils new fighter jet to rival US
Pakistan will be well aware of the implications of Indian involvement in the development of the fifth gen jet, and will most certainly be looking for even stronger cooperation with its ally China.

MOSCOW, Jan 29: Russia on Friday unveiled a new fighter aircraft touted as a rival of the US F-22 stealth jet and developed amid the highest secrecy as part of a plan to modernise the armed forces.

The fifth generation fighter, manufactured by the Sukhoi company and known as the PAK FA, made a maiden flight of just over 45 minutes at the firm’s home base of Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the Far East region.

Its main defence partner India has also been involved in the PAK FA project and will develop a two-seater version of the aircraft under an intellectual property agreement made with Russia.—AFP

Historian Zinn Said ‘Largest Lie’ was U.S. ‘War on Terrorism’

The “largest lie,” wrote hisorian Howard Zinn who died yesterday at age 87, is that “everything the United States does is to be pardoned because we are engaged in a ‘war on terrorism.’”

“This ignores the fact that war is itself terrorism, that the barging into people’s homes and taking away family members and subjecting them to torture, that is terrorism, that invading and bombing other countries does not give us more security but less security.”
